Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. Many people who don't know they mistakenly believe they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually it is the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. However, this isn't the truth. Brugel grew on Courtice just outside Oshawa in Ontario. Her initial ambition was to pursue a career as an actress However, following a dramatic increase in size, her friends weren't able to dance with her. She admitted in an article written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. Once I was bigger than my male counterpart and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in Brugel's case it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. It was the teacher who recommended she go after a role in the school's annual production. She tried out and was eventually cast as the role of the main character for the role in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and earned the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across small and big screens drawing the most media attention after she was offered the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the only Canadian cast member for the season 1 of the series and only appeared on occasion.
